Ashton Rasmussen

His great-grandfather founded a respected and reputable roofing company in Grand Rapids in the 1950s. His grandfather owned and operated it before eventually selling. And by the time Ashton came along, the conclusion was already waiting for him, in his own words: “Something in me always knew I would become a master craftsman.” Today he's the fourth generation of his family in the trade, apprenticing his way toward exactly that.

His title is Roofing Technician Apprentice. His actual job is bigger: Ashton is the engine behind Stellar's repair department. His days start with material logs reviewed, work orders squared away, and every tool sorted and staged for the week's repairs, so that Stellar's senior roofing technicians never spend a minute on logistics and can pour their full attention into the high-skill diagnostic and craftsmanship work that demands it. Then he's on the roof himself, repairing alongside them and learning the craft rep by rep. He describes the work simply: providing protection above for the lives of our clients below. Around the shop, the reviews are unanimous: an absolute workhorse, professional by every metric, with the kind of attitude that lifts a whole crew.

The credentials are stacking early. Ashton is CertainTeed Master Craftsman Certified, a fitting first rung for someone chasing that exact word, Mule-Hide Flat Roof Certified, and Lomanco Ventilation Certified. He's a LARA-licensed Michigan salesperson, holds his OSHA 10-Hour Construction safety certification and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Liberty University, and has completed manufacturer trainings with GAF, Mule-Hide, and VELUX. Two years in the trade, all of them at Stellar, and counting.

Before Stellar, he earned his degree while working full time as an auto detailer, which he'll tell you was, ironically, the perfect preparation for roofing: it forces you to take every detail into account and accept nothing short of perfection before a job is called done. That habit came with him.
